Los Angeles County/Orange County Hepatitis B Coalition

The Orange County Hepatitis B Coalition is formed by community leaders of diverse professional and ethnic background who have united to actively address the disproportionate burden of HBV amongst the API population. UCI APAMSA medical students had the privilege of being involved in this collaborative effort since its conception in Jan. 2009 by attending the first of monthly OC Coalition meetings lead by Dr. Koy Parada (picture). A sampling of coalition subcommittees includes physician/provider education, advocacy, and community outreach. Coalition partners include: UCI/Chao Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, Vietnamese American Cancer Foundation (VACF), OC Asian Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA), Orange County Korean American Health Information & Education Center (OCKAHIEC), America Cancer Society, and many more.
